Have you ever wanted to try your hand at making your own sterling silver or gold jewellery? With this fun, relaxed 4-hour workshop, I will guide you through the basics of designing and hand-carving a ring or pendant, using jeweller’s wax.
As the evenings draw in, this workshop is a fabulous way to spend a day/evening with friends getting creative. Starting with a brief demonstration, I will guide you through the processes of wax carving for jewellery. The first segment of our class will be focused on designing and mapping out your ideas. Then, using various tools such as scalpels, wax files, carving tools, sandpaper and other mark-making techniques, you will bring your designs to life! There is no right or wrong when it comes to making your unique piece of jewellery, just relax and enjoy the creative experience.
Once you have carved your wax master, it will be sent away for casting in silver, at the historic jewellery quarter in Birmingham. Your beautiful handmade pieces will then be professionally cleaned, polished and returned to you via post.
Your Ticket Includes:
- Snacks and refreshments.
- Use of all the tools, materials, protective wear and equipment you will need.
- Tuition
- The casting of your piece in sterling silver (larger pieces will be charged at additional costs)
- Professional cleaning, polishing and tumbling of your casting.
- Return of your finished piece via post.
Ages 16+ (Children welcome if accompanied by an adult) Workshops are subject to rescheduling should the minimum number of 4 attendees per class not be met.
